The fate of Obama’s healthcare overhaul is expected to be announced by a top court in Washington this Thursday. This announcement is treated with a high level of importance by many Americans. It is most likely to affect the American political scene and also determine how the presidential elections in the US later this year would proceed.
The healthcare plan is perceived as President Obama’s major or signature accomplishment that he has made of the last three and a half years that he has been in power. The health insurance plan is expected to advance healthcare provision to the marginalized communities in America and in fact over 50 million Americans who at this time are not insured.
Just like the political scene has always been, the opposition side, the Republicans are totally opposed to the fruition of this healthcare plan. The republicans also have their reasons for this opposition. They see it as a leeway to swell the current United States deficit. On the other hand, they claim that the plan would be intended for the authorities to meddle with the lives of various Americans. Opinions polls that have been recently conducted in America show that a greater majority of the residents oppose this health plan as well.
It is up to the nine member court to determine whether this health plan would come to bear fruit. There has been a lot of debate in different sections about the whole idea behind this health plan. Some of those who argue against it claim that it does not clearly conform to the Constitution of the country. There are still no indicators of whether the justices would rule for or against this health plan proposal.
The court would approve the whole plan, strike it down all in all or even allow few parts which conform to the laws of the land. According to news channels across the globe, and majorly the US news channels, this is one of the biggest cases that the US courts have ever had to handle in time ever since the year 2000.
Obama and Romney, who are likely to be elected presidential candidates for their parties have no choice but, live the rule and decision of the court. Romney seems to be all opposed to this health plan. He argues that such a plan would cost the nation dearly. Again, he states that such health plans have to be taken care-off at the state level rather than the federal level as the Obama health plan proposes.
